Echoes of Joni press release
Echoes of Joni is a 40-minute work composed for fixed media and amplified ensemble. It is a one-movement piece of amplified, experimental classical music that travels through an ambient musical wasteland, with remnants of Joni Mitchell inspired ruins that are transmuted, disfigured, and scattered throughout stream-of-consciousness like fever dream.
Performed by Mexico City-based Attica Ensamble and composed by Jan Foote, this piece combines live performance with a pre-recorded fixed media part. Divided into 9 ‘landscapes’, each section of the piece morphs gradually from one section to another creating a continuous yet consistently changing work, interspersing soloistic moments of lucidity with dreamlike ambient drone sections.
Echoes of Joni is released as an album (physical and digital) on 01/12/2024
